Ukraine’s flat-rolled steel exports recorded steady growth during the first four months of 2026, showing improving momentum in the global steel procurement and export market.
According to customs data shared by Ukrainian steel producers, the country exported around 574,800 metric tons of flat-rolled steel products between January and April 2026. This marks a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
A major share of these exports, more than 81% came from hot-rolled flat steel products. Exports in this category reached nearly 467,400 tons, reflecting a 1.3% yearly increase. Poland remained the biggest buyer, importing around 174,300 tons, followed by Bulgaria and Italy. The growing demand highlights stronger steel procurement activity from European markets.
Cold-rolled flat steel products also showed strong performance. Exports reached approximately 84,400 tons, recording an impressive 17.9% year-on-year growth. Poland once again led steel procurement demand in this segment, followed by Bulgaria and Italy.
Meanwhile, coated flat steel products touched nearly 22,100 tons during the period, increasing by 8.7% compared to last year. Poland continued to dominate imports in this category, while Romania also emerged as an important buyer.
Hot-rolled steel exports in April stood at around 118,790 tons, while cold-rolled products reached 21,900 tons. Coated steel exports also witnessed major growth, touching 7,690 tons and reflecting rising steel procurement demand across Europe.
