In a fresh move to improve road safety, the district traffic police have installed new safety barricades and replaced damaged crash barriers at key locations on the Delhi Gurugram Jaipur Expressway, also known as NH 48, and the Jharsa flyover in Sector 39. Officials said the initiative is aimed at reducing accidents on these high-speed and accident-prone stretches.
On Wednesday, traffic police teams placed 20 Jersey barricades and installed new crash-tire barricades at locations identified through traffic analysis and geo-mapping. The newly installed barricades are designed to improve visibility and guide motorists more clearly, especially during nighttime and on fast-moving corridors. Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Dr. Rajesh Mohan said the crash-tire barricades help drivers identify safe directions from a distance and reduce the impact of collisions by absorbing shock.
This latest step builds on earlier road safety efforts carried out across the city in 2025. During that period, around 400 collision cushions were installed in three phases along road dividers and accident blackspots.
